Install

Four steps.

  1. 01

    Open the download

Open Telmi.dmg and drag Telmi into Applications. The app is signed and notarized by Apple.

  2. 02

Telmi opens your browser to sign in with Google or email, then hands you back to the app. No passwords in the app.

  3. 03

    Allow two permissions

Microphone for your side, and system audio for theirs. macOS asks once.

  4. 04

    Take a call

Join a call in Zoom, Meet, Teams, Slack, or FaceTime. Telmi notices and starts listening.

Permissions

What it asks for, and why.

Telmi asks at the moment it needs something, never all at once. You can change any of these later in System Settings, Privacy & Security.

  • Microphone

So Telmi hears your side of the call. Your lines are labeled You.

Asked the first time you start listening.

  • System audio recording

So Telmi hears the other side through your computer's audio. Their lines are labeled Them. Found under Privacy & Security, Screen & System Audio Recording.

Asked the first time you start listening.

  • Calendar (optional)

So each call gets its title and attendees, and your next meeting shows up in the menu bar. Google Calendar works through your sign-in, or through macOS Calendar.

    When you click Connect calendar.

  • Screen recording (optional)

For the look-at-my-screen action, which reads a question, slide, or code on screen and answers it. Skip it if you don't use that.

Only the first time you ask Telmi to look at your screen.

First launch

What happens the first time.

  1. Telmi lives in your Dock and menu bar.

It opens at login, so it's ready for your first call of the day. Click the waveform icon in the menu bar for everything.

  2. A short setup checklist.

The home screen shows what's done and what's left: speech model, microphone, system audio, and your knowledge. It takes about a minute.

  3. The speech model installs on your Mac.

Transcription runs on the device. Audio never leaves your computer.

  4. Add what you know (optional).

Telmi answers from general knowledge out of the box. Add your product, pricing, and tone in a knowledge pack so answers sound like you.

  5. Your first call starts it.

When a call app starts using your mic, Telmi starts listening and opens the side panel. When the call ends, it saves and writes your notes.
